The on-demand bus service in Askøy is a flexible option that allows you to order a minibus whenever you need it. The bus picks you up and takes you to your destination within two designated areas:

Kleppestø Area

The bus picks you up between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, Monday to Friday. The bus does not operate on weekends, public holidays, or official days off.

In addition, some departures on route 405 Øvre Florvåg-Kleppestø terminal (previously route 482) and route 406 Florvågøen-Kleppestø terminal (previously route 483) are replaced with on-demand buses during the morning. Askøy North

The on-demand bus operates within the marked area on the map:

The bus picks you up in the evening between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM, Monday to Friday, and between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

Additionally, some departures on route 412 Breivik-Ravnanger (previously route 496) are replaced with on-demand buses during the evening and weekends. You can find which departures this applies to in our travel planner or timetable.

How to book the bus

You can book the bus in several ways:

You can book the bus up to seven days in advance or as late as 30 minutes before departure. If multiple passengers are travelling at the same time as you, there may be a waiting time of up to 15 minutes. You will receive information via the app or text message about the exact time the bus will arrive.

If you wish to travel on fixed days, you can book multiple trips up to one month in advance.

What does it cost?

The on-demand bus has the standard ticket price, and you can use a season ticket if you have one. Remember, you must book the bus regardless.

Who can use the On-demand bus?

How do I book a bus journey?

There are three different ways you can book bus transport:

  • Download the app Skyss Bestilling, and book via the app 
  • Online via: bestilling.skyss.no
  • Call us on +47 55 55 90 99, between 08.00 and 17.00, Monday to Friday

By using the app Skyss Bestilling or by booking online, you have a good overview and control of your booking. You can see on the map where you can be picked up at your door, or find the location of the nearest pick-up point. It will also be possible to track the bus along its route and see when it is expected to reach the agreed stop.

If you book via the app or online you can add any special notes, for example, that you will be using a wheelchair, or have a pram with you. This can be a good idea, as there is only room for two wheelchairs at one time.

Using the app or online also allows you to change your pick-up time and cancel your journey as required.

When you make a booking, you will receive a confirmation by text message.

You can book the bus as early as seven days in advance and as late as 30 minutes before departure. There may be others who wish to travel at the same time as you. In such case there may be a 15-minute wait for the bus. You will receive updated information in the app or by text message stating what time the bus is expected to arrive.

Public holidays
Book-and-ride is available on weekdays, whether school is in session or not, and is suspended on movable public holidays.

Book-a-Ride in Masfjorden allows you to pre-book your journey. Book-a-Ride services follow fixed routes at fixed times but only operate if advance bookings have been received. The routes are operated by taxis but with the Skyss logo displayed in the window. Scroll down for more information about the routes.

Book-a-Ride in Kvinnherad allows you to book a bus exactly when you need it. It will then take you to your destination in Husnes. The bus can accommodate both wheelchairs and pushchairs.

The service operates Monday to Friday 09.00–14.00 and 16.00–22.00.
It does not operate on public holidays.

Book-and-ride in Odda is a service where you can order the bus. The service can be used on weekdays between 16:00-20:00. Outside of these times, the bus follows the regular bus schedule. 

The book-and-ride service is available in the area marked in the map. The bus picks you up at an ordinary bus stop.
