Single ticket

The single ticket is valid for 90 minutes in one price zone. This means you can travel both to and from your destination on the same ticket. You can also combine bus and light rail, as well as some trains and boats, on the same journey.

Single tickets valid for one or more zones can be used on

  • Skyss buses
  • Bergen Light Rail (Bybanen)

Additionally, several boat routes in Vestland are included in the zone system and have the same fare as buses. These include

  • Askøy boat, route Kleppestø - Strandkaien
  • Nordhordland boat, route Knarvik - Frekhaug - Bergen
  • Florø-Askrova-Stavang-Svanøy (Florabassenget south)
  • Florø-Barekstad-Batalden-Fanøy-Rognaldsvåg-Kinn (Florabassenget north and west)

Single ticket on trains and express coaches

  • The single ticket is valid for 90 minutes in one zone.If you buy a ticket for several zones, you get extra time – an additional 30 minutes for each zone you pay for. The price of the ticket goes up depending on how many zones you want to travel through, but it won't cost more than four zones.
  • You can use the same ticket for both your journey to and from your destination. Additionally, you have the flexibility to combine bus, light rail, train, and boat services on a single trip.
  • The price of the ticket goes up depending on how many price zones you want to travel through, but it won't cost more than four zones.
  • Single tickets are available for adults, children, students, seniors, and military personnel.

If you are travelling in the Bergen area, you do not need to show your ticket when boarding. If you are travelling outside the Bergen area, you must always present your ticket to the driver or boat crew when boarding. You can find more information about boarding here.

Please note that you cannot buy tickets on board the light rail in Bergen.

There are ten price zones in Vestland. When you travel within a zone, you pay the same price regardless of the distance of your journey. The ticket price increases for each price zone you purchase a ticket for, but you never pay for more than four zones.

You will automatically receive a discount when purchasing a single ticket for adults in the Skyss Ticket app. The travel discount is perfect for those who don't travel frequently enough to benefit from a season ticket or for those unsure about their travel plans for the next 30 days. Read more about the travel discount here.

If you're over 18, the family discount lets you bring up to four children for free. The discount is valid every day throughout the year.

Please remember:

  • You must be over 18 years old and have a valid adult, senior, student, or military ticket. Youth ticket is not valid for family discount.
  • The children must be between 6 and 18 years old.
  • Children under 6 years old travel for free.

The family discount applies to Skyss buses, the light rail, and select boat routes. Please note that the discount is not valid on the airport buses in Førde and Sogndal.

Family discount on trains
The discount is valid on trains between Bergen-Arna-Trengereid if you have a single ticket or a 24-hour ticket for zone A. It also applies to trains between Bergen and Voss if you have a period pass (7, 30, or 180 days) for zones A, E, and F.

When you buy tickets for ten or more people at once, you receive a 17 percent discount on adult tickets to Skyss buses, the light rail, and some boat routes.

In the Skyss ticket app and webshop, the group discount is automatically calculated when you purchase the tickets.

If you have a travel discount and buy ten or more adult tickets using the Skyss Ticket app, you will always receive the best discount available.

Remember that:

  • Group discount only applies on individual adult tickets. It cannot be combined with other discounts, except for travel discounts.
  • If the group includes passengers with tickets for children, student, senior, or military, they will be included in the count. They are not eligible for a group discount in addition to any other discounts, such as student discounts.
  • Children under 6 years old travel for free.

Groups of 15 persons or more travelling together must notify the operator before their journey starts.
