Train travel

Use select Skyss ticket types to travel by train between Bergen and Arna/Trengereid, and between Bergen and Voss station.

You can use the following Skyss ticket types on trains in Hordaland:

  • Single tickets and 24-hour season tickets for zone A may be used on journeys between Bergen and Arna/Trengereid (Vossebanen and Arnalokalen).
  • 7-, 30- and 180-day season tickets for zones A, E and F are valid for the entire journey between Bergen and Voss (Arnalokalen and Vossebanen). Please note that you must have a ticket for all three zones.
  • 30-day youth ticket are valid on all journeys between Bergen and Myrdal (Vossebanen and Arnalokalen).

Remember to have your receipt on hand to present to the ticket inspector. 

Please note that Skyss tickets are not valid on regional trains between Bergen and Oslo.

Vy operates the trains between Bergen and Arna, Trengereid and Voss. Please note! Skyss tickets is not valid for travel by regional trains between Bergen and Oslo.

Tickets for zone A are valid on local trains between Bergen and Arna/Trengereid (Vossebanen and Arnalokalen).

This applies to the following types of tickets

  • 24-hour ticket
  • 7-, 30- og 180-day season ticket

* With some exceptions, you will need to pay a ticket surcharge if you purchase a ticket on board the train. More information is available at vy.no.

If you are 16 or older and under 21, you can also travel on local trains between Bergen and Arna/Trengereid with the 30-day youth season ticket.

You can travel by 7-, 30- and 180-days season ticket between Bergen and Voss. It is the same ticket that is used by traveling with bus.

Please note that you must have a season ticket for all mentioned zones. For example, you need a season ticket for three zones when traveling from Bergen to Voss station. 

Skyss single tickets and 24-hour tickets are only valid on trains between Bergen and Arna/Trengereid and not between Bergen and Voss, nor between Trengereid and Voss.

Single fare tickets for journeys between Bergen and stations between Trengereid and Voss must be purchased in the Vy app or from Vy.

You can travel with local train wherever you want between Bergen and Myrdal.

When you use Skyss tickets on trains, the same discount rules apply, with some exceptions:

  • Group tickets: Please contact Vy for group tickets.
  • Companion: There are different rules for companions outside zone A. 

Travel discount: You also get a travel discount when you buy a single ticket for the adult in the Vy or Entur app. But if you have both the Skyss Billett app and the Vy or Entur app, they will not talk to each other about the discount ladder. You earn a discount separately in the various apps.
