Payment by bank card is contactless, just tap your card on the payment terminal. In some cases, you may need to insert your card and enter your PIN. You can also pay using a smartphone or smartwatch if a valid bank card is registered.

Using your bank card as a ticket

When you pay with a bank card, the ticket is linked to your card. This allows you to use your bank card as a ticket during ticket inspections.

All bank cards have several unique ID numbers that can only be retrieved when the card is used in a payment terminal. ID numbers are used to identify the bank card, since the risk of misuse is very low. The unique ID number (PAR) is the same number that enables the use of Apple Pay, Google Pay and similar services, where the physical bank card is replaced by ID numbers.

When you pay for a ticket using your bank card, the ID number is linked to the ticket. This makes it possible to see what tickets have been purchased using a specific bank card during a fare inspection or when making new purchases.

The ID number that is stored in the ticket system cannot be traced back to an individual person, and is only visible to authorised personnel. Personal data is thereby not stored in connection with ticket purchases.

It's easy to check tickets linked to your bank card:

  • Tap your bank card: You can tap your bank card, smartphone, or smartwatch on a payment terminal on the bus or boat. This will show whether you have a valid ticket and how long it remains valid. You can also tap your bank card on ticket machines at Bergen Light Rail stops.
  • Check your ticket on skyss.no: Enter your card details online here to see an overview of all tickets purchased with your bank card on board buses and boats or at a ticket machine. If you have a valid ticket, you can see how long it remains valid. You can also print a receipt if needed.
