Student discount

You receive student discounts on single tickets, 24-hour tickets, and season tickets for Skyss buses, the light rail (bybanen), and boat routes included in the zone system. This applies to:

• Askøybåten - boat route Kleppestø - Strandkaien
• Nordhordlandsbåten - boat route Knarvik - Frekhaug - Bergen
• Florø-Askrova-Stavang-Svanøy (Florabassenget south)
• Florø-Barekstad-Batalden-Fanøy-Rognaldsvåg-Kinn (Florabassenget north and west)
• Kaupanger kai-Frønningen

You get a student discount if you are:

• student/pupil who is studying full-time at an upper secondary school, vocational school, university college/university or other educational institution that qualifies for support from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund. The scheme also covers Norwegian students who are studying abroad. The programme of study must last for at least three months, and for higher education, the programme of study must amount to 30 credits or more per semester. For upper secondary school, the scope of studies must correspond to a one-year course certificate. 
• full-time apprentices or training candidates who meet the requirements in Chapter 4 of the Norwegian Education Act.
• adult non-Norwegian-speaking students who are receiving training in Norwegian and social studies, or refugees who are participating in the introduction programme.

Are you under 21 years old?

If you are younger than 21, it is advantageous to purchase a 30-day youth ticket. With the youth ticket, you can travel as much as you want throughout Vestland for 390 kroner per month.

When traveling with a student ticket, you must always be able to demonstrate that you are currently enrolled in studies or apprenticeship for the relevant semester. You may be asked to present documentation by the driver, crew, or ticket inspector.

Valid documentation must include your name, date of birth, and the name of the educational institution, and it should confirm your enrollment for the current semester.

The following are considered valid documentation:

• Student ID or digital student certificate confirming your status as a student this semester.
• Documentation from the school or training establishment confirming enrolment in the current semester, along with another form of valid photographic ID.
• Students enrolled in educational institutions abroad must have an ISIC card (ANSA cards are not accepted).
• Foreign students must carry identification and acceptance letters from the school.

Student certificates for the spring semester are valid until the end of August, and for the fall semester, they are valid until the end of January. If you complete your studies, the last date to purchase a period ticket is July 31st and December 31st.

For apprentices/trainees, the following are considered valid documentation:

• Personal ID card from the company, marked as "Apprentice" or "Trainee, or
• a copy of an apprenticeship/traineeship contract, or
• confirmation from the enterprise that you are an apprentice/trainee, stating the duration of the apprenticeship/traineeship contract and your name and date of birth.

If, during a ticket inspection, you cannot provide valid documentation entitling you to a student discount, you will be required to pay the applicable fee.

Cash fee: In zone A you will incur a cash fee when you use cash to purchase a single ticket on board. The cash fee is NOK 16 for adults, students and military, and NOK 8 for children and seniors.
